Looking to put LED bulbs in the dome and map lights of my 99 prerunner. Only problem though is I cant figure out how to get the old bulbs out and dont want to break anything. Any help on how to get into the dome and map lights? Also I heard some LED bulbs wont work. Any suggestions on bulbs? From what Ive seen everyone else gets theirs from superbrightleds.com and they work good.

You'll have no issues in your 99 with the LED bulbs.

As for replacing the light from your dome light, you simply pop off the lens cover, pull out the old bulb and put in the new one.

    I don't have map lights but I'd assume it's the same/similar.

I don't have a map light either on my 97, but yes, the dome light is very easy to replace. I have done a 100% LED conversion on my truck (Except of course the headlights) so that every single light bulb on my truck is now an LED. If you need any help just let me know.

Start prying the entire cover off very carefully. Just be careful not to mess it up. Pry evenly all the way around.

Post a picture of what you have. I can help you then. As for the bulb itself, they are 194 bulbs. I have them in blue, red, and amber, as well as white. The cover should come off pretty easily. those plastic tabs can suck.

Ok I got the LEDs in today. I figured out for the map lights It is real easy. I flipped my mirror around and pulled out a little tab that is rite in front of it with a screwdriver and then the whole cover came off. Thanks for your help.
