I'm hooking up the wires and cant seem to identify the wires coming from the front speakers. there is a light green, pink, purple, and a blue but im not seeing a purple or a pink or a light green, two look grey and the purple cant be distinguished from the blue. any tips on which colors are which. i opened up the door but the wires look exactly the same going to the speakers on each side. i am frustrated right now, so any help, recommendations, and suggestions would be appreciated.

    Does this help? http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/2140.html

Or do you already have something like this?

When I'm having trouble telling the difference between a green wire and a dark green wire, I'll get a piece of plain white paper (printer paper) or a 3 x 5 card and hold the wires in front of the paper. I've found having the white background helps to determine the green from the dark green. Also, if you're using a flashlight to see inside the dash, don't use an LED flashlight that has a blue tint to it. The blue tint can mess with your eyes a bit and make it harder to determine one color from its darker variant.

You must be going crazy if you're posting this at 1am. I completely feel your pain.

Ive been looking at the origional 10 plug and taking what appeared to be the purple and pink of the left front, ive deduced what should be the right front due to corressponding pin plugs. these colors are what appear to be a orangish tan, and a dark green to me, but i could see how they could be light green and blue respectively. ive been left with two remaining wires, a white/black stripe front the rear speaker pin, and a green/red stripe from the front speaker, battery and ground pin. does anybody have a diagram for the original pins with locations of outputs? i would be grateful as i am shooting in the dark here. this is my first time, but without the right color code i dont understand how anyone could be successful.

The link I provided in my first post has it all laid out. It tells you which wires correspond with each speaker as well as the 12V constant, ground, etc. This is about as good as you can get for doing it yourself.

If you're looking for a diagram of the actual harness with something like, "Pin 1: right front speaker, Pin 2: left front speaker," I don't think it exits. Someone may have made their own, but to my knowledge companies don't make a guide like that. Although, it would be nice for someone to prove me wrong and provide that for you.

I may have just proved myself wrong. Check this and see if it works.

Thank you for that diagram, it was a life saver. I looked all over and couldn't find any other that were reliable. I figured it out finally. the front speaker wire colors were the hardest to identify as they weren't correctly colored but luckily they were correctly in their slots. looking at the old pin i was able to deduce their proper new locations.
I wasn't able to get it to work at first because i had misunderstood what the 12v switch was, next to the 12v battery, not realizing it was ignition. I realized i had to weave the red ignition wire on the new head with the old 12v switch and in with my new 1600 wt lightning audio amp, creating a trifecta. I turned on my key and presto, worked like a charm. just finished replacing the paneling and am now working on the sub box for my two 12" 800 watt kickers. I am placing it on the floor of my backseat in a triangle shaped box so as to allow the seats more motion. anyways. Really appreciate your help, you're a savior.
