So, I found my 2011 Tacoma at an Infinite dealership. Obviously used with 43,000 miles on it when I got it. I now have around 47,000 and the Maint. Requ. light is flashing when turned on. I usually change oil by myself but I am wondering if I should bring it to my local Toyota Dealership this one time just so they know I am in a Tacoma and can notify me of any recalls and what not. Good idea??

Did you get any paperwork or ask the Infinate dealership if they had done any work on the truck? Oil changes for example? You can look online and look for recalls, you don't have to go into the dealership for that, unless they need to be performed. The Infinate dealership probably did a basic inspection and then put a 'for sale' sign on it. More than likely it was a trade in so they are probably going to have little, to no information on it.

I think that you can go to Toyota's website and put in your VIN and it will tell you that the regular maintenance was done at a Toyota dealership.

    Yeah.
Good idea to be in the Toyota system for any recall mailings and to know if previous recalls have been done.

Yes. Infinate changed oil so I basically drove away with a fresh oil change. Also did an excellent wash and wax. I have not got it looking that good since. So its not really that important just to get checked in at a local dealership? Thanks.

This is what I was thinking. I will probably just bring it to them. Let them do the first oil change (since i own it anyways). Then do the rest myself.

I would take it to the Toyota dealer just to be put in the system.

They usually give the truck a good look over so you would be notified

of any problems they might find. If eveything goes well, you information

is in the system already if the need to take it to the dealer at a later date.

Register, but I gotta be honest, I can get the free oil changes and stuff like that from my dealer but after dealing with their service department during the buying process I'm just going straight to my regular mechanic because I don't trust those guys.
