I'm not sure what caused this or what it is but how do i fix it? I have 4 of these on my hood and they are all in the same corner and the biggest is about the size of a penny. Any idea what its from and how to fix it? Any help is appreciated.

I know my car is dirty but that comes from living in a Phx apartment complex and parking outside but it doesn't look bad from a few feet away.

Going to wash my car next weekend.. It will be ~60 degrees out.
Is that ok to wash, clay, and apply BLACKFIRE Total Polish & Seal? I'll be applying the blackfire by machine, and I don't want it to get gummy from the cold.

If it is above 55 you should be ok.

That is pretty strange. Almost looks like a crack in the clear coat or a very peculiar water spot. I would try to remove it with a claybar first.

Did some research and either its a problem from the factory with the clear coat or the sun/heat did it. Its only a year and a half old with 20k miles so I find it hard to believe this can happen that fast especially because I do put on a good coat of sealant every 3-5 months and was it almost weekly. I will still try the clay bar but any other ideas what I can do? Is it worth taking it into the dealer to complain about the clear coat issues?

I can assure you I don't let bird crap sit on my car so possibly the previous owner did.

    Link to resource.

The clear coat crack, in the link resource, did talk about trying to use a glaze to fill and hide the problem. Be aware that you will need to reapply the glaze after you wash the vehicle. Glazes typically are removed by washing the vehicle.

Since you indicated that you already polished I do not believe a clay bar will help but you never can tell.

I fully detailed my car yesterday and the crows feet are still in the paint. Guess there isn't much i can do. I'm going to try and complain to the dealer and say its a faulty paint job and hope they will fix it. 1 in a million chance it will work but might as well give it a shot.

Have you tried a heavy buffing compound to remove that spot?

I had the same happen to my 12. The dealer is repainting the hood as it was a problem with the prep job from factory. Give it a shot.

It seems as if Toyota really likes to cut corners on the paint. I wish you luck!

Any tips on convincing the dealership? Did they try to argue the repair? I plan on heading in on Friday.

Clay will work, but Iron-X is easier and better for rail dust.
