    Will be more like $35-36k

Judging by the price of used ones and the fact I walk to work, in 10 years I could sell my 10 year old truck that will probably only have 80k for $25k.

Lol, I just couldn't pay $20-25k for a 3-5 year old truck with 50k+ miles, chips in the hood, scratches and a rusty frame

    36 months * $342 = $12,312

Remaining $21,150 over 72 months (compared to your monthly used car prices you posted) will be around $360 * 72 = $25,920.

$25,920 + $12,312 = $38,232 over ten years. We were both wrong. Either way, that's a real long time to be paying for a car. Hopefully the third gen doesn't affect the value of the second gens, or you could be royally boned.

I don't really plan on selling it, that is why I am worried about protecting the frame. It has 800 miles on it and winter is like a stone toss away. I won't thread jack it here but I have a poll in the detailing section on that.

There will be 1 of 2 outcomes.

I will keep the tacoma forever and basically baby it in every way possible.

    or

Get bored of it, trade it and always have a car payment just like my mother does :D

I do get pretty good interest rates through my bank. When I bought my first (almost) new car I needed a co-signer and they got me the loan through NBT with 5.99% interest. Just this summer I took the loan to my bank who let me refinance it for 2.24% and I kept my payment the same over a shorter time to pay it off quicker.
Now I sold that car to my girlfriend instead of trading it in, the 1999 saturn was overdue! And got the truck. So we have the gas saver 2011 focus and the 2013 tacoma!

I drove from Michigan, deep into Ohio and bought my 07 DC from a Chrysler dealer in the middle of cornfields that couldn't sell the truck to save his life! I waited him out for a month to pay the price that I wanted to pay!
