Aloha, I just bought my first Tacoma, a 2014 regular cab 4x4. Not my first yota have had many of the pickups but, new to Tacoma's. Just got the question and love it, big improvement from the older trucks, the 2.7 is a beast compared to the stock 22r and 22re I'm know and can't wait for the warranty to be up so I can tear into it. My question has to do with tire fitment, my dad also just got a 2014 double cab trd 4x4, it has some decent 256 BFG rugged trails, my truck came with 245 street tires on steel rims. Why does the double cab come with 265's and can I run 265's on my truck,
I'd prefer to run them since I have pallets of them in my shop for my work trucks? Also everyone I've asked locally tells me I can't run aftermarket 16" wheels without spacers and 17" wheels need a leveling kit? I don't want to run spacers and a leveling kit will void the warranty, so will stock trd
Aluminum rims from a trd truck work? I've also been told there is a sensor in the new rims for the tires? Basically I just want a set of rims with some 265 adventuro mt's I can run all the time and then toss the stocks back on when I take the truck in for service so the dealer won't make a big fuss. Thanks for any help.

I had a 2012 RC 4x4 which I bought a used set of 17" TRD Sport rims and 265s and ran them with no issue. No spacers, no leveling. Looked sharp.
