its a 1996 2.4 5 lug. i was offroading this morning and noticed my truck put put putting really bad at 1-1.5k rpms but it was driveable, now i can barley drive the truck. Its put puts so bad at any rpm below 3,000 in any gear. Its jerking and misfiring and i can smell raw gas at idle. But as soon as i get above 3k rpm it goes back to normal and drives great. If i rev the engine up to 4-4.5 at idle itll go down normal and idle normal until i put load on the engine. It is throwing a cylinder two misfire. So i checked out the wire and plug, the bottom of the wire was wet, but it didnt smell like gas, then i looked at that spark plug, which looked like shit. It was soaking wet with this mystery fluid and had white residue all over it, the tip looked fine though. The cap, rotor, wires and plugs were all replaced 8 months ago with ngk stuff. All the other plugs looked great except cylinder 2. Any ideas? I really dont want to drive the truck like this.

When you're revving your engine is there any smoke coming out of your tailpipe? And if so, what color? Also any liquid coming out of the tail pipe?

    (I also had a 1996 2.4 5 lug. Best truck I ever owned. :))

I'd do plugs, wires, distributer, and clean the MAF sensor.
Also, figure out where the raw gas smell is coming from.

I did a head 20k ago and they arnt that hard but i dont see the white smoke or any milky oil. I think the valve cover is leaking. Would that cause all this?
