Man, when did a police officer turn into something for little kids to be afraid of?
When I was a kid, I would have been absolutely thrilled to see a cop in my school. And I can't imagine any of the parents at my Elementary school being concerned that a sworn officer was there while their kids were being picked up or dropped off...
Hell, half the time an officer would park in the lot of their own initiative during pickup and drop off times, just in case something happened (however unlikely it may have been, in a small, rural western Maine town.)

saw this on TV. funny and a bunch of BS! it was parents that were worried about it and did not like it more than the kids. what i heard is a parent talked to someone and asked them to make the person leave, and they told the person .” you do know thats another parent of a student”

IMHO i just think that parent(s) just don’t like LEO, so they don’t want them around.

edit: my dad was a wildlife officer, and would drop me off and pick me up in his uniform and gun. would even wear it in when he would bring the bone box stuff in and show it to the class.(animal skulls and furs/pelts)

This is AZ, right? So even civilians can pick up their kids at school while carrying?

    lol.

I was out in the mountain 4 wheeling one day, and come up on a check point. (where they check riding permits and other stuff, like if you been drinking or anything. it was a WMA) and i ended up stopping and just chatting a bit since i knew all the guys working because they worked with my dad. got some water and everything.

well we got talking about someone being pissed off and not liking them. I said the only people that don’t like officer(wildlife or street cops) are the ones that like to and want to do illegal things. as long it’s a good officer and you are not braking any laws and if you are and you are respectful you are not going to have any problems. it’s when you start disrespecting them and acting like you are not doing anything wrong, thats when you are going to have problems.

kinda off topic, but TN passed a law this year that allows anyone with a hand gun carry permit to keep a gun in the vehicle on school grounds. the gun CAN NOT leave the vehicle at all what so ever for any reason at all! before people with a permit could not even pick up there kids if they had a gun on them, they had to take it home or leave it some where els.

Meh. Even if I was a parent dropping my kid off at school and had to rush right home to supervise my 100-acre grow plot and 10 illegals working it, I still wouldn't think anything of a cop at a school. The resource officer who was at my high school two days a week wore his duty gear, and it included a uniform and a gun. Probably a backup somewhere on his person, too. And everybody in the school knew that he had a shotgun mounted between the seats in his squad car, and probably an AR in the trunk too.
I don't know. I just don't understand what goes on in the brain of a Hoplophobe.
