Morning. I'm looking to purchase a new tacoma this year and have a couple of questions. I've had my FJ Cruiser for 7.5yrs now and really like the "rear differential lock", and towing features.

When comparing the Sport vs. Off-Road I like the look of the Sport (hood scoop, matching, body color, signals, etc.) a lot but really wanted to have the "RSCA, DAC,Rear Differential Lock", seems like everything comes in an option package. Has anyone been able to go with the sport package but yet still select some of the features that off-road package offers?

    Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,
    Rodney

not that ive have seen..have to remember that the newer (09+) offroads also come with a-trac and not the normal breaking system like in the sport and such.

it would be easier to get a trd offroad and just swap everything thats chrome/black to the color match and scooped hood from the sport.

unless you want a double cab long bed then you can only get it in SR-5 or in the trd sport.
why not just get a sport and add a arb locker?

Prolly be easier to get the off road and then swap parts later.... Sometimes u see scooped hoods here for sale.

Drive one first.... If u off road, make sure to find a hill to crest and make sure ur OK with the added blind spot from the scoop. Also drive on a sunny day, they are reported to catch glare from the sun and reflect it into ur eyes if at the right time/angle.

I don't know about the reflection personally, but I drove a sport, and rode along in a friend DS sport over a small crest. I didn't lime the added although small blind spot.

YMMV..... They do look great IMHO tho!

I had the same thoughts when I was buying my Tacoma. I went with the sport because I figured I was going to change the suspension anyway so all I would need to do is get a locker. I have never had any issues with the hood scope; glare or blocked view.

In the 2.5 years I've had my truck I've only had the sun glare issue once. So I wouldn't worry about that too much.

I like my sport but have to agree about getting an offroad and painting the chrome. The off road package is more than just a locker.

I would say this too!! I have an Off-Road and have purchased some color matched accessories because I think they look better -- not the hood but the grille and Line-X'd the rear bumper. This is a good idea if you want the features of the Off-Road but like the looks of the Sport - which I understand.

Another vote for just getting the sport "likes" put onto an OR. I've seen some guys who are looking to trade hoods because they want or don't want the scoop.

It was easy for me, as I will be trading out all the chrome stuff for upgraded stuff, and don't care for color match or the scoop. I only had to figure out what color OR I wanted.

If you get an eager enough salesman, maybe you can swing some deals to get the hood, and go from there. :notsure:

    Guys,
    Thanks for the response.

Sounds like it's gonna be easier to do the off-road to get everything I'm wanting and swap the grill and few thinks out.

Will let you know what i end up with.
