4WD to 2WD conversion

    Trail gear 3 Link Solid Axle Swap kit, 14 " Fox coil overs with reservoirs up front, Chevy 63 leaf spring swap with ruff stuffs Chevy 63 swap kit, 14 "Fox shocks on the rear, 37" tires, Custom front bumper by Next Venture Motor Sports with a warn winch, glassworks unlimited fender flares, custom rock rails with kickups (modeled after Relentless Fab Rock sliders), rear bumper from streetacos.com (with custom rap around protection for fiberglass fenders and the hitch receiver hidden behind the license plate that is on hinges), HID off road lights on front bumper, rigid pods on rear bumper with red back lighting, high lift mounted in the bed, onboard air, Flowmaster muffler, aftermarket air intake, alarm system, Alpine Deck, Alpine amp, Alpine speakers, JL W6 12" subwoofer, JL amp.
    4WD NOT WORKING! I have a 2001 TRD SR5.. So today I went to go offroading on a little trail by my college. I went to put it in 4WD and..... nothing happened. What could be wrong? I checked the fuse in the fuse box that says 4WD since that made my lockers stop working on my old 2WD tacoma. That was fine. When I pull the 2WD to 4WD shift nob it feels like it is still moving the gears. What could be wrong and what should I look for?

    How do you know it's not working?? Did you get to a spot where the wheels should have been turning but weren't?

    If still no wheel spin. Your electronic ADD actuator could be dead.

    Does the 4WD light come on? I agree, most likely electrical issue.
    I had a bad ground and bad switch that made my 4WD not work.

    It worked last weekend at Sedona. Then my dad drove home back with 4WD ingaged. Im wondering if that could be it. And I stopped on a steep hill and tried putting it in 4HI and 4LOW and only the back wheels spun. And the light does not turn on. Where is the electronic ADD actuator and how can I tell if it is not working?

    It's on the diff tube. Have to take the skid off and it'll be right by the front diff tucked up by the crossmember. Get a volt meter. It'll be your friend. Simply test the wires when the lever is in 4wd.

    That would've only broken mechanical stuff (like blown up the transfer case if he turned sharp enough)

    Yea if you broke a spider gear or something in the Tcase..which..i don't think is what happened as you'd be hearing some lovely noises coming from the truck haha

    ^Yeah, if you broke a spider gear, I'd expect noises. Also, I've driven in 4 Hi for almost 2 hours before without any problems (snowy ice covered highway). Like has been mentioned, the key would be tight turns on a grippy surface. My guess is that it's electrical. (I've been wrong before, though...)

    I broke the nipple on the actuator where one of the hoses connects..
    I get to buy a whole new Actuator!! YAY!!:frusty:
