what plug is this?

    In(05-08?) 2wd trucks, what plug is this sitting where the 4wd ecu would be?

    its the black plug mounted to the plastic bracket, looks like it's just a continuation junction.

    looks like it could be the rear locker + dash wires that would normally go to the 4wd ecu but on 2wd trucks, just continues on it's way?

    In today's modern auto construction it has been found cheaper to build just one single harness for every cab, be it 2wd, 4wd, e-locker, automatic, manual... This reduces cost overall in two way: One, with a single harness, less labor time can be lost if the incorrect harness is accidentally installed, and Two, if in the middle of production a customer has a change in the build, it can easily be remedied simply by installing the physical/mechanical components. So that connector could be for any number of things really.

    that's what I was thinking...

    I guess what i'm looking for now is a pic of the same area from someone with a 4wd.

    see if that single plug is still there or part of the 4wd ecu plug.

    awesome thanks! Looks like that middle function box has extra wires at the very top.

    i'm guessing the 4wd ecu is tucked up above? some of the wiring looks to be different for 09+
