Over the past say 6 months I have been noticing dull spots appearing on my White 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport Dual Cab. I washed and waxed it yesterday and its almost like its starting to spread like the Clear Coat has worn off but without the flaky edges that you would see on an older vehicle. I am going to ask my dealer if its something thats under Warranty however i wanted to know if anyone else is having or heard of this issue before i get into it. My dad owns and operates a Body shop so i know what im looking at but wouldn't expect this on a 3 year old truck. I searched the forum but didn't get any results for this.

    Any info would be appreciated.

I have read a few things on here about this issue. The white and other non metallic paint jobs are a single stage paint where the clear coat is mixed in with the paint and applied. If you don't really take care of your paint like frequent washing and waxing this is something that will happen.

Brought it in to the dealer today. The Body shop manager was all over it. I just waxed it the other day so it wasn't as in your face as it was before but he noticed a few of the spots i was concerned about. He wants me to take it in tomorrow, they are gong to buff out the entire truck per a procedure Toyota has for the Tundra (he said this was a problem on White Tundras) and if it comes back in 30 days they are going to have a rep from Toyota come down and he said we would go from there, however repainting the entire truck could happen if the spots come back. Glad i went down there.
