Anyone have an idea on what to use for a homemade bed mat? I hate things sliding around in the bed of my truck when driving. Something made of Rubber and easily removable would be great. Any suggestions?

I worked at a flooring company and I got a piece of rubber flooring that we installed in gyms and cut it to fit and it has worked awesome for 2 years and is thicker than a Toyota bed mat

horse stall (stable) mats work well from what I've heard. Go to a feed store or some place like that on the web...they should have them for less than the Toyota mats.

If you have a tractor supply or agriculture supply store near you, pick up a horse stall mat. They're thick, heavy rubber and should be just wider than the space between the wheel wells so minor trimming would be required.

Edit: chunky beat me to it...

I bought a 4X6 rubber floor mat for $30 from Home Depot and cut it to fit the bed.

i tossed in of those restaurant kitchen entry mats into the bed of my truck. it is too small, but covers a good portions.

it cost me $15 at Costco. it is rubber bottomed with a carpet-like side. nothing slides around anymore. i used it a a foot scupper pad outside my tent when i am camping. it is awesome..a multitasker! i also pull it out onto the ground when i am putting on my camo clothing and boots for a hunting trip.

easy to clean with a hose.

**Posted by another member on here in another thread**:I bought some 3/4 inch thick rubber at tractor and supply and paid about 35 bucks for it. Works just as good and a whole lot cheaper

check this thread out if your interested in something like that

Carpet remnaints work pretty well. I'm always able to find a nice chunk of indoor-outdoor or berber that holds up well and a acceptable color. Most flooring places will let you choose from their stock of leftovers

I got a scrap piece of 4 ft. wide conveyor belt when I had my first (1979) Mazda pickup. That stuff is truly indestructible.

Have a Dee-Zee mat now and I like it a lot.

This is what I've had in mine since I bought my truck. Like you I hate for shit to slide around in the bed. It has been great. The OEM mat is very nice also.

I know there are a ton of alternatives, but I've heard the OEM mat is the best fit, doesn't move, and lasts through a ton of stuff. If I get a bed mat, which I will someday, it will be OEM.

I know this is old, but may be worth bringing back to life if anyone has done something similar or wants to give and update on the durability of their homemade mat.

I'm interested in doing this only because I'm concerned about the OEM mat getting stolen. Has anyone had theirs taken from their open bed?

One guy here ran strips of non-slip tape (like some guys put on top of their sliders) down each of the raised ribs of the bed. Looked pretty cool. I started to do it, but ultimately ordered an OEM mat from trdparts4u.
