Those same sliding windows have been leaking for a few months now and it makes me wonder if something failed.

I also failed to mention that the window on the other side (driver's side sliding cap window) closed without incident.

I hadn't even thought of that. I know someone who works at one of our local glass places too, i'll have to see what she can do.

I also am going to check with the local auto glass replacement place where we had a 4runner windshield replaced before...I just want to see if they can do it and for less than an arm and a leg.

    Thank you for the idea!!

Awesome, the only thing i worry about with getting a regular glass company to do it, is the plastic end that goes on the glass (as seen in original post attachment) and locks it to the window frame. I'd also be worried about having to take it to someone to get the tint to match...

Thank you so much for the insight scottalot. I'm having a piece of plexiglass cut to fit it that is the same thickness and has standard grey tint which matches perfectly. Thanks again!

I'll put pictures up when i get it installed!

I plan to move on to another tacoma within the next 2.5-3 years and other than the plexiglass being easier to scratch than tempered, i don't think anyone will notice it isn't original. Just glad i could get someone to cut it locally. Another piece of tempered would've been ordered and shipped from out of state. The only unfortunate think about the glass place i choose, is that they are swamped right now.

I've done this before. Take the opposite side out and take the window to the glass shop and have it duplicated. I used the old handle from the broken window with double-sided tape on the new window.

Just be careful reinstalling the frames, those little screws require very little torque. Use some silicone and new weatherstrip, the whole nine yards when reinstalling to make sure you don't get leaks.

EDIT: Well, nevermind, hope you're happy with the plexi. I wasn't when using it another time. It ended up looking like shit after only a short time. The difference between it and the other panes was so obvious.

I had a Leer cap on my 2009 Tacoma, I was very disappointed with it! It leaked, never fit right! I took it back a number of times with no good results! I hope you have better luck then I did!!!
