horn and cc dont work.

my horn and cc dont work, but my air bag light is not on, and my audio controls work, do you think it could be the clockspring, i only ask because wouldnt a bad clockspring always trigger a airbag light? thanks

 

My clock spring shit the bed and the light went on... Zero issues with anything else tho.


Best advice I could give is to check all fuses.

No. The clockspring is just a cable that is spiral shaped and allows the electrical connection to exist between a stationary object ( the truck ) and a rotating object ( steering wheel ). It provides a connection for the Drivers airbag, steering wheel radio controls, factory cruise control and the horn. These are individual circuits. So you could break the horn and cruise control wires and not yet have damaged Airbag wires... Follow me?

Older cars like when I grew up only had a brass ring on the column and a spring loaded button on the steering wheel to provide an electrical connection for the horn.

 

i realise its just a wire harness. im trying to figure out how i can get the dealer to do it, but the airbag light isnt on. but i guess a TSB is differentr from a recall. i have a 11' with 140k miles when i called the toyota recall they said the miles are to high so they wont cover under warranty but to contact a different branch which im going to do tomorrow, but i thought a recall was a recall, mileage shouldnt matter. especially if its a safety related

also the cruise control light will go on when activated but doesnt work
