don't feel bad. They were government mandated.

Oh, no kidding. Either way, it's still nice to see it standarized at this point. Safety should not be reserved for those only capable of paying the premium price.

It isn't. The premium was merely punishment for the handicap of not being able to drive. It should be mandated that drivers have skill rather then mandating what we drive. 4x4s will never be the magically invincible vehicles that we are training people to think they are. Driver caution and awareness is no longer required now that we all drive "safe" vehicles.

Mandate all vehicles come with a manual transmission and you will see accident rates plummet.

No you can't contol the drivers complelty of course. I just meant that when I am driving a stick I am a lot more alert, even if it is just subconcious, then when I am driving an auto. You also get far better traction feel as well.

The only thing new they could bring could be a V8 (doubt it) or maybe a moonroof. Nothing new body style wise. But they may surprise, considering we're more than halfway through the year and they haven't released ANY details about them

I spoke to a dealer today who said they had some 2010 tacomas ordered and that eventhough they are still getting in 09s that some 2010s would be arriving within the next 30 days. I asked him about what the changes were going to be since they were ordered and he said they weren't suposed to say at this point (really? thanks for nothing) but that they were "verrrrry small."

I'm not sure if this has been posted on Tacoma World yet or not but the 2010 4runner is supposedly getting a new 4cyl and V6 engine. I'm not sure what's considered new, to the best of my knowledge they are just adding Dual VVT-I. No new transmissions, I was hoping for 6 speed autos available with either engines. Can we assume the 2010 Tacoma will get the same engines? It's not very lean for Toyota to produce different variations of the same displacement engine, in my opinion.

    Very nice!

I would bet money that the Tacoma will be getting both revised engines. Like you said, it would not make sense to have it otherwise.

In the information it lists the 2010 FJ Cruiser as having a 4.0L V6 with 259hp and 270lbs-ft which is a little lower than the 4Runner which comes with a 4.0L V6 with 268hp and 273lbs-ft so it's hard to say what the '10 Tacoma will have. Although, the 2009 4Runner did have 236hp and 266lbs-ft which is exactly the same as the 2009 Tacoma.

    Guess time will tell :D
