I know I've heard on here that the factory stereos were junk but does that mean from a sound standpoint, or as in not lasting, or both?

This morning my display went out when I hit a preset to change the station. Was still playing music and the display would come back on when I turned the volume but the presets wouldn't work and when I hit them it would go out again.

Though well it's still under warranty so I'll take it it. :( Don't get me wrong, I've always had aftermarkets and would love to upgrade but financially that is not an option right now.

So I get in the truck after work and everything is working fine. So now I know something is wrong and Toyota isn't going to do anything unless it does it again and in front of them.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if Toyota replaces it would it be the same unit? Mine is a 2011 JBL w/bluetooth. I would love to have a newer one with the bigger display.

Remove unit. Make leads to pins on back of stereo unit. Randomly pick pins and touch leads to 110AC. Be sure to keep leads onto pins and let the leads (wires) take the hit of the arc so there isn't evidence of arcing. Reinstall and take into Dealer for warranty.
