how do you check the MPG

Another vote for Fuelly. It's pretty easy, and if you miss a fillup there is a way to tell it so. It will neglect the previous range of miles and continue.

I used to do this with Trip A, but the oil changes are at 5,000 incriments so I just go at the next 5,000 mark. A little more or less doesn't matter.

 

yea on my old taco it was odd numbers so i used the trip.

Since i bought the 2013 new all i have to do is not miss 5000 increments more than a bit and im set for ever.

I started a fuelly awhile back and my app broke, then i tried to start a new one and never did anything with it. So i fixed it today and i will be using it from now on. Not that im going to be reporting anythnig stellar but at least people will be able to see so i dont have to explain so much

Also you can go back and enter it if you have the info.. if not then yea it has the missed fillup thing too.

My app works now as well, phone updated the other day so maybe thats what happened

 

yup I think I'll do that. although one member here pointed out a pretty bad ass group buy deal for ultragauge that ends 10/13 and ive had this dilemma of I have some funds in my paypal and don't really know what to use it for

 

yea, the group buy on the ultra gauge is a good idea, i debated it but i already have the scangauge 2

Its not really a tracker, like fuelly.. but it give you instants which i really only seem to care about when im towing. Basically once it hits <15 mpg my brain says ok now its time to save gas.

 

How is that even possible? I call BS, proof or it didn't happen.

 

How big exactly is the gas tank on these trucks?

 

My Yaris also has an average MPG function on the digital odometer gauge, but just like the other gauges it's not accurate.

So I do it the old fashioned way simply by logging miles travelled in a little notepad divided by gallons of gas dispensed for each fill up. The only way to get a truly accurate mileage profile is to average multiple fill ups together while noting the time of year, as Summer mileage is always higher than winter mileage.

I think it's about 21 gallons... but never run it dry as you risk burning out your fuel pump.
