To date all my blackberry devices, and friends iphones have worked flawlessly with my 2012 tacoma base stereo. If you have any of those, especially the blackberry as Ive used it alot! expect no problems.

But the other day I picked up the new nexus 7 and its screwed up. It works great with my bluetooth headphones. But it cant stream anything to the truck unless the stock android google play music app is running. So your winamp or youtube can be playing over top that app but thats it. Pause the google play app and winamp will continue to play on the tablet but cuts the streaming to the truck.

What a letdown on googles part here, what the hell are they doing different then everybody else that makes our one year old vehicle technology not compatable

    I figured this out.

This is not an android problem. Its a problem with the default Google play music app. That app is garbage and is messing with the whole system. You cant delete it but bury it into a folder never to be seen again.

I tried this free music player called Double Twist https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayer and all is perfect. Sends the song title to the display. And when you open up youtube it pauses the song and leaves the bluetooth airways open for the youtube, netflix etc. sound. Done deal.

There is a shitload of music player apps. Im goona try a few to see which one I like best but at the very least this app looks great, and it has a 5$ upgrade to wirelessly sync your itunes.

Has anyone been able to stream music over bluetooth using the Spotify app on an Android?
