Thinking of driving to Cheyenne WY

    I might be diving all the way to Cheyenne from MD in a few days for a funeral.
    Looks to be 1,600+ mines/ 24 hour drive.
    I-80 is the most direct way, but it looks like I can take 70 to Indianapolis, catch 74 up to 80 to avoid any tolls.
    Anyone have any advice? Where to stop, route. etc? I've never driven this direction before.

    I would pay the tolls and stay on 80. IMO it's more scenic than 70. A few years ago I went from Salt Lake to St Louis and back. I took 80 going east and 70 going west. I enjoyed 80 much more.
