    Hey y'all,

I just recently purchased a 2010 Tacoma Doublecab. This is the first non-Jeep vehicle I have owned since 1998. I hate to say, if Jeep made a pickup I'd have bought it...

Anyway, I chose the Tacoma based off of web reviews and a good friend who has owned a Tacoma of some sort since he returned from the First Gulf War.

My last vehicle (2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport, fully loaded) was beginning to give up the ghost. Repair costs were going to sink any value it had for trade-in. With 135,000 miles in a little over 8.5 years I feel I got more than what I expected. In fact up till 2008 there were no plans to drive it that long, but the recession hit and yadda yadda yadda.

I lucked into my Toyota Certified 2010 and have been driving it the past week. Needless to say, I am very impressed! I also know I bought a winner. I'm not sure yet on the MPGs, but sticker to sticker it should beat the Wrangler by a bit (14/18 vs 16/20). I know that I was averaging around 20MPG with the Wrangler on the highway, hopefully the Tacoma will get around 22/23-ish.

Most of all I actually now have space! Those that have owned or used Wranglers for any extended period of time will know what I mean. Before I traded the Wrangler in I was running without the back seat in place or the "hide-a-trunk", simply a PITA to carry even luggage. Those days are gone!

If there are any known issues with the 2010 model year I'd appreciate the input so I may have them addressed while under warranty. I know there was an issue with the fog light switch on mid-2000's Jeep vehicles where the entire stalk needed replacement as well as the gas tank filler issue (sucks not being able to fill up a tank fully without gas spraying everywhere). These issues I had with the Jeep could have been address under the 3/36k warranty, but I didn't know what to look for.

    Thanks for reading!!

    Semper Fi,

    Mike

You will enjoy a vehicle that doesn't need to be repaired or modified after each off road trip. I had a Jeep, once... ;)

Welcome! Just made the switch from an 09 Wrangler to a 2013 DC TRD 4x4...the extra space is outstanding...cant believe how much extra effort I put into my day to day in the wrangler...It was a great vehicle, but I love the convenience of the Tacoma...
