Howdy all, I am pretty close to sealing the deal on a new Tacoma (2014 DCSB V6 5A 4x4 SR5), but before I sign the dotted line I have some questions about accessories. In particular I am interested in the skid plate and roof rack.

Those of you that have either of these accessories, are you pleased with them? Factory or aftermarket? What brand and how much did you pay if aftermarket, and if you don't mind my asking.

    Any input is appreciated!

I am very excited to potentially get into a new vehicle soon. I am very nervous about spending that much money in one place, but it is getting to the point that my old Frontier that I rode hard and put away wet through high school and college is in the shop about once a month. It is still kind of like selling a part of your life.

Skip the tinfoil skid plate, get the OEM roof rack

The skid plate is an easy upgrade and the aftermarket will provide much better protection if you're looking for actual armor. Factory one is flimsy and worthless...just collects mud...

The OEM roof rack is sexy and useful, and should run about $300 installed from the dealer...

Agreed with Aworthyopponent. If you can't get the roof rack for under $300 from the dealership (installed), then don't buy it through them. You can find them online in the mid $200's and the install is pretty simple to do yourself.
