I've been giving some thought to selling my lightly modded 2006 Tacoma TRD Sport, as I haven't really used it for it's truck potential for a year now. I got it 5 years ago to haul around mine and my wifes dirt bikes after years of having cars/ sportscars and motorcycles, and proceeded to lift it etc. Wife sold her dirt bike earlier in the Spring and bought a Ducati Monster, and I bought a Daytona 675 shortly after. I've only used my quad twice this year, and it's parked at my Dads place out in rural BC...therefore the truck gets used rarely as we also have a RAV4 and a Porsche 911 which get much better gas mileage. Been thinking about getting another car that is sporty/ fun, but gets better gas mileage. Civic SI, WRX...?

Would you be okay without having a truck? Do you think that you'd miss it?

I'm sure I would miss it a bit, but up until 2004 all I ever owner was 2 door sportscars, and coupes. It seems like a waste to have a fairly large truck that never gets used to it's potential, yeah? Plus whenever I go back to my hometown in BC it costs twice as much in gas over my wifes RAV4 limited with the V6. It's just something I've been thinking about. The Porsche gets stored in bad weather/ winter, so something fun that gets decent gas mileage might be the ticket.

Sounds like you have the luxury as the Taco is a spare car/truck that was used to haul toys you don't have anymore. Good thing I found with Taco's is they hold resale well.. so sitting around isn't the worse thing. I think the answer is simple with what you're after as a DD.

Throughout my 20's mainly I owned 2 door hatchbacks and the odd 4 door. I use to travel back to the Interior of BC every 3-4 months for the last decade(not so much in the last year and a bit). Getting my first Tacoma 2 years ago, I loved it on the highway. When the roads got bad or I needed to have a sleep, I wasn't cramped into a small vehicle for 6-8 hour trips. Yeah, filling up sucks at $138.9 a liter but I knew that getting into a truck. I have the space, power compared to what I had with previous vehicles. But for me, I only need one vehicle since it's only me that drives it.

I am not sure what advice to give you. I've never owned a sports car, motorcycle etc. I hope to one day but I know that isn't now. If you don't really need or want a truck then why keep it? If you ever need to haul anything you could rent a truck or buy a small trailor if you need be. I guess way out the pros and cons. That's the only thing I can suggest.
