Trying running 100 % gasoline and not the 10% ethanol blend that most stores carry. I have 2 local filling stations that carry non-ethanol gas in my town that I fill up at and my gas mileage went from 16-19 to 20 to 23 range

When I lived in Tucson, I averaged 21mpg.

After moving to Albuquerque, I dropped to 17mpg.

Sometimes I can get 500 km a tank. mostly city. Not very often though, due to idling, starting, and stop and go.
On the highway going 120 km steady, I can get pretty damn far, maybe a little over 550km on a tank. One time i got 590km out of a tank on the highway. wind was in my favor. I haven't figured out my mpgs recently so would have to guess it would be in the 18-20 range.

    02 DC auto with 265/75/16.

Run a high tire psi for long road trips.

Me getting 20-22mpg doing 70mph (I originally said 75mph; my bad) in a 3.4, Xtra-cab, manual, completely stock; running Chevron 92 and full-synthetic in everything (including diffs) is every bit as reasonable as you getting 22mpg doing 55mph in a 3.4, double-cab, automatic, with who knows what mods (including non-standard tires), who knows what octane & quality fuel, and who knows what oil/fluid

Also, my 95.5's standard tire size is 31/10.5/15. Whereas, later-year 1st Gens came with 16's; which yours would have, if you haven't down-sized...
That, alone, would generally give me a small mpg-rating over you

Someone might be on crack... but, it's not the guy with the stick-shift truck that weighs less and has smaller tires than your automatic; and is claiming to get the same gas-milage at a higher speed than you
Also, actually believing driving like a maniac increases mpg numbers is as bad as the guys claiming their Dodge Cummins on 35" tires gets 25mpg...

In street tires, 21+ isn't unreasonable.

    AT tires, 17+

Mudders above a 32", good luck.

I run 265/75/16's, keep it around 70, and I get 19.5 mpg all the time. Day in, day out. No winch, factory bumpers, 3.4L. This, in a truck that will take me from Alaska to South America on almost anything you could laughingly call a "road", with supreme reliability. I'll take that action!

    :mudding:

After a Land Rover and an FJ60, I feel like I'm in the Bahamas, mileage-wise! :rasta:
