Spent the evening getting the IFS skid ready for painting.

    Washed and sanded down:

    Paint booth is built:
    IMG_0015_zps71dc235d_4f9e92f80d2f7795a6f58638f0882d42a4e4b0b4.jpg

Masking off the belly side. Painting the engine side and the front lip black. Might do the belly side black as well but leaving open the option of a simple clear coat on the belly side.

    IMG_0016_zps9b5a4c41_d3ad94a795c55781d71fe5de58481d6219ccde4a.jpg

Set up in the paint booth:
    IMG_0017_zps2b2f98d0_8fb54c55d95b2ae6b8d1f08979b2476e2300b1ef.jpg

A shot of the front lip. Will be painted black to visually hide it underneath the bumper.
    IMG_0019_zps3764a5d2_ef8b36cff50f0d76f75728a9c58acea283aeff43.jpg

After the engine side is done, I'll mount it and see how I want to finish the belly side.

    Try Grainger.

They have 1" threaded rods. I'm not sure of the pitch though.

Got the first coat of primer on. Not the most uniform but I suck with the rattle can.

Looks like my paint booth isn't all that well sealed. Going to have to sand between coats.

    None more black:

    IMG_6216_zps3ff2ed26_be80f5b1fe0c0dc9b4b0e2a5c96c14e1575dcba8.jpg

One more coat and the engine side is done. Now that I've seen it with the black on, really contemplating painting the other side instead of just a clear coat.

Put on the last coat tonight. Will rip off the masking tomorrow and see how it looks mounted up. Then to decide between clear coat or black.

I love my manual but my clutch leg is telling me it is time for an automatic. Sucks a bit, being this far into a build and having to consider drastically changing directions.

Shit. I'm perusing for-sale ads to see if I can find a 1st Gen Dcab to swap everything over too. How's that for drastic. The lack of 4WD models has me even considering doing that swap too.
