So I just got back from my local tire factory and they told me that there is an issue with studding the duratracs. They said that the tires need a 15 stud but when that is used, it dosn't stick out far enough. Then when they used 16 stud, it sticks out too far. They recommend sniping them. Is that true?

I take it you're working with what you have? Seems to me that the Duratrac is suppose to be great for winter conditions, and a shame that it needs studs or siping at all.

All my offroading tires (the older BFG MT KMs and GY MTRs) are siped. Works for me for year around use.

Good luck getting this sorted out!
