Seat heating / cooling system?

Anyone added the heated / cooling seat system from roadcomfort.com? If so, would you reccomed it or another product? I live in the south and am about to pull the trigger on my katzkins and I really like the idea of cooling seats. Thanks in advance.

Have not tried the system to which you are referring. Used to have heated/air conditioned seats in my old Lincoln Aviator. Those were the best.

Hard to see how you'd retrofit such a thing.

 

Ya, electric heaters are a fairly easy retrofit, but air conditioning not so much.

 

FYI our Optima has heated and cooled seats and the cooled piece consists of cooling fans. So when you're looking what you really are looking for is 'ventilated' seats. You'll need to cut sections out of your foam and then attach the fans to push air up through your seat.

It actually works amazingly well. cutting your seat foam isn't a huge deal either. If you were to install something like this that would probably be one of the easier steps really. Get an electric knife like grammy uses to carve the ham and start hacking away.

 

I was told that the foam tends to degrade after it's cut though. Is that true?

 

You're just cutting a couple squares out that are like 2" x 2" or so so it's not really that big of a deal.

 

Better to get heated seats and a remote start alarm... then it is cool when you get in via a/c. I always felt like cooled seats in Lincoln made my ass feel wet, like I sat in water.

 

New jeep Cherokee has heated and cooled seats. Little fan that blows in the small of your back. You should get that.

 

Then something is wrong with you. As someone who gets hot easily I would choose my cooled seats in the summer over heated seats in the winter any day.

 

I wonder if they ever have a probelm over heating or how they would feel sitting on them.
