I was wondering if anyone is running 285s on the 4 bangers without regearing.. I've got 265s load E on mine now and at first I could feel the power lose but I got used to it and now I'm wondering how much different it would be if I got the 285s..? My biggest thing is I don't want to regear

I noticed a loss when I went up to the 265s from stock. The 2.7 was a slug to begin with, but the tire size difference only made things worst. I imagine the 285s would be really bad. I plan to re-gear now that I have the 265s. I could live with it, but I'd rather have a bit more low-end power. Im sure you can learn to live with it, but I wouldn't recommend it without a gear swap.

As soon as I out the 285s I had a brief moment of regret, after driving it for a week I didnt mind it. It wasnt a hot rod to begin with. I considered regearing but I think I will just live with. I went through the same feelings with my Jeep. 33's V6 and 3.73s. I have decided after this I am going to a Tundra or another Cummins. I miss power.
