My truck is a 09 Off Road Dbl Cab with 65k on it.. I was planing on towing a 14'covered trailer about 1300 miles. I was planing on having the transmission flushed.
Do you think I should do it before or after?

It depends... Are you trying to prolong the life of the transmission or the fluid? If you think it needs a flush, I would do it before the trip.

I wouldn't do it until at least 60,000 miles. Check your owners manual, it should give suggested mileage both towing and not.

I am not a 100% it needs it.. Just trying to take care of it.. I have not really towed that much since I have owned and I am the original owner.

It does have 65,000 on it. I was getting conflicting stories on when to do the trans flush.

    Thanks

I misread that and thought you only had 1300 miles on the truck. Check your owners manual, or the scheduled maintenance online. I would still say it doesn't need it.

I would go ahead and change the fluid. According to some earlier posts Toyota has updated the fluid change interval to 60k down from 100k.

I tow a travel trailer and am planning on changing my fluid soon. My 05 has 32k on the clock. I'm the second owner and the previous owner babied the truck. I figure the fluid is cheaper then a rebuild:cool:

Ya thats what I was thinking. Dealer wants 180 to hook up to machine and flush it out..

    Too few to list.
I believe the manual states the 60K change interval is for someone who tows on a regular basis though I have not read it in a while.

Found it! Our 4Runner is due the 60K maintenance.

I probably wouldn't flush it but just drain what you get out and then fill it back up. Doesn't seem hard to do but probably will take a little time. There is a how to for changing your transmission fluid.
