I will leave it at this because I really do like your products. Computers are great but please keep the human element involved. Reputation goes a long way here and there are reasons I no longer buy products from companies that have a poor reputation. I do plan on purchasing another flat rack in the future.

    Steve,

I stopped by your booth at the EXPO also. I talked at length with a very knowledgeable gal who did a great job showing off the features. The rack is an impressive piece of equipment that is as versatile as it is well built. I really had not considered overhead storage but would like a place to anchor some sort of shade awning. The Front Runner Rack is on my short list of future additions.

How easy would it be for someone to steal one of these? Can you leave it on permanently?

What part number(s) did you order for the rack over the shell? Can you take a close up picture of how it mounted to the tracks on the shell? I am eventually going to buy a front runner rack for the shell but need to know which parts I need to buy for it.

For the rack over the cab, well, go ahead and try to steal it in under 15min with mounting feet and all. Some of the angles on those bolts are only reachable with a combination wrench. Just the rack without the feet? HAHAHAHAaa cruel joke there - might as well take the whole setup at that point. They are a little easier to get to, but just as time consuming.

For a theft deterrent, you could 'TAC' a nut on each of the sides . Then it would NOT go anywhere.

The rear over the shell- On the current feet I have for the rack, you would need a childs hands and LOTS of patience to get into the small space in order to remove the rack from the feet/ separate the rack feet from the rail feet.

The SOLID slat version I opted for in the rear, added to the security of the rack. If it were every other slat, then you would not have the side clearance issue I had while installing.

There are companys that make some security, locking bolts (think lug nuts wheel locks) - so you could substitute a few of the bolts for better piece of mind.

If these were loaded down, Would not be able to get these off in a timely manner. Without access to the slats in the front, near impossible.

For the rear rack, it is the SAME EXACT for the shortbed as the front rack with the exception of the RAILS and feet in my case. If you already have the rails, then the feet are the only requirement. Unless you wanted to remove your current rack and replace it with the FrontRunner version.

Will look for my invoice with the part numbers. In all honesty, I called Steve and told him what I needed. Meaning, I took the measurements, and told him. He said, "YEP! I got just the thing."

The only hiccup, which is where we all are at right now, is the feet height to make it even with the front. I think I have 9/16" difference in height. Will be getting new feet this week and hopefully making the proper height adjustments/

Do not forget, if you want it solid, as I did, then you have to purchase the extra slats. 6 if I remember correctly @~$50 a piece? otherwise it is the ~$800 that the front is. That is like I said, "If I remember correctly" <- not trying to give out false info here.

    I think I have the 50mm feet?

This picture shows the different heights of them. Might do a 60mm and drill the right height holes if* my measurements are correct on the height difference\ between the racks.

    http://thesuperinch.com/
    http://www.ookingdom.com/metric/fraction

9/16" (which is the little notch right after the 1/2" mark) is .5625" or 14.2875mm

Since there isn't an option in 5mm incremments, I feel it is better to go taller and work my way down to size.

If you get the rear rails, go pick up some of the FLAT BLACK Automotive touch up paint with clear coat from the local Advanced Auto, you will need to cut them down to fit properly on the Topper...

Another useful tool would be a Mitre Box to cut a nice clean finished angle on the rails. 45º I think. Then use the flat black to touch up the ends after a good filing.

I bought the 3/4" punch off Amazon to get the feet holes perfect also.
Snips to cut the rubber and the metal inside the roof molding.
3M Double sided automotive foam tape. The kind with the red backing, used to put on the emblems and suck on vehicles. The actual tape is a light grey in color.

I received the 60mm feet the other day. I will attempt to swap out the 40mm feet for the 60mm's tomorrow.
