Bought my '08 v6 sport in 2010 with 47K on it. It has 78k now and I want to flush the transmission fluid. I want to do it myself and looking for some advice.

Found a good "how to" thread, but I see people that swear by the OEM WS fluid and others say aftermarket compatible fluid is fine. Obviously, if i was to do a drain and fill the OE WS would be the smarter choice since that's what (i assume) is in there. But If you're trying to do a cooler line flush of ~12 quarts, is an aftermarket fluid fine to use?

Also is a drain and fill recommended over this full drain? I know the pressure flush is never recommended.

There are guys using Valvoline Max Life WS. They say they are not having any problems. I would think if you want to spend the money on the OEM fluid then do it, otherwise I would go with Maxlife.

Cool, thanks. I want the best for my truck but don't want to fall for the manufacture's BS. I saw where some say Valvaline is better quality than OE. Any other brands or recommendations?

Those are the only 2 that I've seen people use and say good things about.

I used the OEM ATF. I read somewhere that it has additives in it that are required for certain Toyota vehicles (Tacoma is one).

Not sure if that is true, but it's not too much more expensive for playing the safe side.
