Never had an issue, changed my spark plugs like a month ago but never had an issue since. When it cranks over, instead of a positive sounding start it sounds like it bogs and struggles. Has anyone had this issue? Is it a spark plug or starter issue or neither?

Neither, a lot of tacomas do this. No one really pinpoints why, try your spare key, try higher octane gas, fuel additives etc. what's happening is your truck is trying to calibrate the climate you're in, for example, your elevation, the temp, etc. there is nothing wrong, so to speak.

That's a relief, I just left for lunch after I posted and it fired up normally. Guess you're right
