    Ok I want this toolbox.

    http://www.lowes.com/pd_36_0__?productId=1096337

Thing is I can't find one with this measurements in black. I like that's it's only a foot wide. My question is has anyone painted or used Bed linered on one? How durable is it? How did you do it? Pictures if you have them?

I used Duplicolor Bed Liner directly on the same tool box, new from Lowes -- zero prep other than cleaning with microfiber and Windex. I sprayed multiple coats. I taped off the hinge and lock.

I went over it with multiple coats of Plastidip... made it "less matte" and smoothed out the texture a bit.

It's been several months now... still looks perfect. It really hardened up after a couple of days in the sun.

I'll snap a pic in the morning.

I apologize to my #1 Fan. I took the pics but never uploaded them.

And yes, I know my house needs to be painted.

As for how it's held up... I put a couple of small scrapes in it while moving some things this fall. I expect I'll be able to just touch it up with Plastidip. I'm very happy with it and I wouldn't hesitate doing it again.

PS - The bed liner is a horse stall mat from Tractor Supply. Very heavy duty.

This fits in a short bed?

No help on the paint. But I put that box in today. Perfect proportions for the short bed IMO.

It's pretty light duty though. I cut and drilled some flat stock to beef up the mounting points. I don't have a pic, but I also cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to size and set it in the bottom of the box. Just I case I drop something heavy in there.

I did the same thing. I really like it. It's tough, and very slip resistant.

Edit: check my thread. Lowes has that toolbox in black. No painting required buddy.

Uhhhhh Lowes stopped carrying that specific model in black. It's no longer online and per customer service at my local Lowes it's no longer in stock.

Even if they still had it... I don't like the shiny enamel look. Flat/matte black looks much better in my opinion, buddy.

As for mounts... the Grip Rites are junk. Tractor Supply and many other places sell these which are much better:

Those look like good mounts. I couldn't use them due to my rack mount covering up the bed rails.

This is the bottom side of my toolbox mounts. Good if you can't use the rails or just want to save a little $.

Yeah, mine came with a Betterbuilt decal inside. It' now resides on the toolbox in my garage.
