I'm planning my first big upgrade for my truck, an ARE shell, but I'm on the fence about which type to get. I like the looks and functionality of the MX series, but I'm worried about that extra height causing issues with parking garages.

Now, I know our trucks are ~70" in total height, and the extended bit of the cap looks to be about 4-5", so my total height would be 75". I want to say I'd be okay since I see Suburbans in garages with few issues, and they're about 75" high, but I was wondering what you guys have to say about it. Another worry is if I get the beefier springs to handle the towing/hauling, that'll push the ass end up another inch or so.

Also, getting the extended height would basically nix any lift-kit options.

I guess my question is, has anyone with caps/baja racks/lifts had issues with parking garages? I'm going to be living in DC, so planning around the bastards is kind of a must.

Yes, parking can be an issue.
With a OME lift, 255's, and a hi rise canopy, I stay away from most covered parking lots.
Even if you may fit under the height bar at the gate, watch out for sprinkler pipes and such. Also, any incline or ramp can be an issue, level at 78" I barely fit, but a possible speed bump, or low hanging pipes, keeps me parking outside.
