I stopped in a local truck and jeep enthusiast shop today and asked about lift kits for my 08 Tacoma. Despite my exclaimed interest in the OME suspension lift, they said my best bet was a Rough Country 3" spacer lift. I was troubled to even come up with a response....

All the rednecks in my neighborhood use spacer lifts. Not a single one of them does it right, or even understands how to do it right.

I guess this is what I get for trying to support small local business...? I guess I'll stick to online shopping.

Yup most 4wd "shops" will tell you to get the spacer lift. Easy for them to install and make $$ on and make you think you got a good lift. Do yourself a favor and do it right the first time. This place is a wealth of knowledge for purchasing the best lift for your needs and even installing it yourself with a few knowledgeable friends and a cold beer.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
its no harder to install an OME or other replacement strut/coilover lift than a set of spacers.

The rear, if you went with full leafs like the dakars is a little bit harder but its more labor time and money for them to make.

stupid... i would not say any spacer lift is "better" maybe more cost effective, and a better choice for some situations but not better.. lol

I just think it's funny how some 4wd shops will try and sell you on a spacer lift even if you seem more interested in a better lift option, and one they might even carry! I dunno, i had a spacer/block lift on a toyota once and it sucked. To each their own. And yes, its no harder to install coilovers vs. spacers, but if you're already in there........

Yea it does not make sense.

There was a local shop where i grew up that was the same way, always pushed blocks etc.. maybe they make more after markup on the cheaper stuff?
