My father owns a 2006 Tacoma with the V6. Ever since he had the acceleration recall fix installed by Toyota, he has had the opposite problem. The problem only occurs intermittently. When he is at a dead stop and starts to accelerate, the engine stalls. It doesn't cut off, just barely runs. If he pumps the gas pedal, it catches and takes off. Has anyone else has this problem and if so, what was the fix? The local Toyota dealership has been no help.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
With the truck idling tap the MAF sensor lightly with handle of a screwdriver. If the idle flucuates you need a new MAF. Good luck. I would seriously think about changing the exhaust 02 sensor, as well.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Does the 2006 use the potentiometer setup for the accelerator pedal sensor or the hall effect setup? Sounds almost exactly like what the NHTSA described for a 'tin whisker' failure mode on the potentiometer-style accelerator pedals in the '05 Camry (they share quite a bit in common since they both use ETCS-i).

If it's not something esoteric like that, it could be a bad ground/wiring from the throttle. Consult the FSM for the proper test procedures and go from there, first.

Does your father drive with both feet. If he does it can cause issues.
