My 2009 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner 2WD is making three different types of noises. I have about 66,000 miles on it. First problem, when I turn on truck you can hear a noise coming from the hood, it comes & goes as I drive or while I'm at idle. It does not sound like a rattling noise more like a clicking noise. Noise just started this Saturday lightly. As I continued to drive it all day noise progressed but would come & go. I just did an oil change, replaced my air filter, changed the tensioner with belts & replaced my two shocks in the rear about two wks ago. Second noise I hear is a clunking noise when I reverse or turn the wheel as I'm reversing. And third when I'm at idle sometimes I hear a light noise when I take off.

Light bar and bumper guard, 3/16 steel skid plates for engine, tranny and transfer box, OME 881 springs with 5100 shocks at mid clip. AAL in rear. Positraction rear diff.
For the first noise, is it there when parked and the hood up? If so remove the fan belts one at a time. Does the air cond. have any affect?

For the second noise look undere the truck while someone moves the steering wheel back and forth. Check for any unusual movement in the steering end links, rack and pinion etc. Raise the front end and try moving the wheels up and down and side to side with your hands to check for play.

For the third noise raise the rearend and grab a wheel and move it back and forth and listen for any noise from the differential etc. Try both side.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
the second noise sounds like the lower control arm bushing in my corolla. kinda a "bung" noise?

First noise is it a slightly growly sounding whine? if so i would check the fluid in your power steering first. or just check it anyway ;)

third noise... is your truck auto or manual, is it a squeek or rattle or clunk or chatter etc

The first noise whether I'm parked or driving can still be heard. Doesn't matter if air cond is on. The volume of noise fluctuates. Noise does not sound like metal hitting against metal but it clicks & when accelerating it clicks faster. Third noise I only hear it when I'm at idle and when I press on the gas to accelerate I hear a squeak sounds like it comes from the tires. I'm going to have it checked but I just wanted to get a general idea of what the problems may be.
