I hate to do this, but I just recently traded in my Tacoma.

    Indigo Ink
    2007 Double Cab
    V6
    4x4
    TRD Sport
    Auto
    Multi-CD changer
    "Premium Sound"
    Rear camera
    59K miles
Small dent on rear back bumper

I got $18,450 for the trade-in near Seattle.

They originally offered $18K. Was only able to get up to an extra $450 max.

I see it's finally posted on their website. They are asking $23K for it, lol.

I don't think what they show you on trade vs. what they actually give you on trade can be compared exactly. If they know, they're going to sell you and get a good margin then they might be more inclined to show a larger trade in value (even depends on the demand of the new purchase vehicle). If they know you going for invoice on the purchase and asking for some of the hold back then the dealer may not be as generous on the trade in. Without knowing the profit on the new purchase (this comes from several areas...F&I, the sale itself, factory to dealer incentives ect) I just don't think you can do an apples to apples comparison.

It is the job of a car dealer to steal from you, with every breath they take.

From attempting to rob you when they make a sale, to robbing you with service charges, to denying warranty service when something should be warrantied.

Literally everything they do is geared towards taking as much money from you as possible, so don't be surprised when they lowball you with a trade offer.

When you walk in there, make no mistake, you are going to war. Act like a soldier, and be strong.

Good decision. Now, what can we do to help your dad NOT give away a great truck for a tin can rental grade POS?

Has he looked at the trade in values for Silverados?

For some reason, they put in a chrome grille. Looks like they buffed off some scratches on the tailgate.

The dent is still there from the picture.

But other than that, it seems they just gave it a nice detail.
