Don't flame me too hard, I have been searching.

Looking to start refreshing my suspension on my 01 with 160k. Got some 5100's for the front on the way. I am probably going to just get some new stock coils since they can be had new for $40-$60ish at RockAuto.

The rear is what I am not quite sure how to handle. Money is tight so it will all need to come in steps.

I am wanting to lift the truck just slightly and somewhat level it. No bro lean though. Want to make sure I dont have that. I am not sure if I should run the 5100s at middle height (1.75 is it?) and a 1.5" aal in the rear? Or 2.5" on the front and 2" aal in the rear...?

I will have to run my stock rear shocks and leafs for a while... Will the stock shocks be ok with a 1.5 or 2" aal? No rock crawling or anything, but it does see dirt trails. I will be upgrading the shocks and leafs next year some time. Just want to make sure its ok to run like that for a while.

I would like to do the 2.5 front and 2" rear aal. Should make it a little more level than stock and no bro lean. Just want to make sure the stock rear shocks will be ok.

If you want level, I would say 2.5 up front 1.5 in the rear. Rear shocks will be fine as long as your aren't wheeling hard, no whoops, no flexing it out.

I would actually like a slight rake forward. Maybe not as much as stock but a little. Just a little more level than it is now. Yeah, no fast dirt stuff. Just slow poking around on trails going hunting and fishing. Washboards are the worst it really sees.

Also, I do haul stuff in the bed a bit/tow a small camper, so that is another reason I think I want a little rake and do the 2" aal's. That way when I do haul stuff it is not too leaned out in the rear. I really just can't stand that look.

Any alignment issues at 2.5? I am reading a bunch of people have alignment issues... Not sure now. Maybe do 1.75 front and 1.5 aal. That way I know I wont have any issues and still get a little better stance? What size AAL did you use in the rear? I'd like to get all the lift the most lift with 2.5 and 2, but if it will have alignment issues, I don't want that.

No alignment issues!(MID SETTING) Have the 1.5 AAL from toytec and 5100 billies.
I set the fronts on the mid setting--TOO LOW with no load.
AAL is GREAT-Performed better than expected!
Wished that I had used the HIGHEST SETTING.
It is noticeably low in the front.
    Ride is good.

No lower than stock rake though right? Should be just a hair more level than stock. I do not mind the stock rake. I like that look. Just want a little taller stance.

I may just do the 1.75 front and 1.5 rear. I know there will be no alignment issues that way. Its so hard to say with the 2.5... Lots say had alignment issues but a few say they didnt.

Edit: Yeah, I think im going with 1.75 setting and 1.5 rear. No alignment issues, and should give the best ride and a decent stance since I am not getting bigger tires and I should be fine with stock brake lines, etc...

Thanks for letting me talk it out haha.

Can you post some pics of your truck newertoy?

Err... again. What the heck is the middle setting on first gen billies? 1.25 or 1.75? I can't seem to find a definite. 1.25 kind of throws a wrench in things. That would make more rake than stock.

So it seems its 1.25 I think. That blows. I dont want a block in the back. They dont make a 1" leaf... Why couldnt it be easy????

I got my 5100's set at 2.5 on stock coils with 2" AAl and Im raking almost 1". So Ordered toytec/Eibach 3" lift coils to run my 5100's at 0. They will be here 11/6! Stoked. Im wondering if i should get tires now or wait till i install the coils even if im alreaded lifted ???

From what I hear the middle setting is arounf 1.25-1" after settle so with stock leafs you should be level. Unless your stock coils are slap wore out like mine

My whole suspension at 160k is stock so I think its pretty done for. So with new struts and I was going to get new oem type springs as well.. With no lift in the back and on new springs and 1" setting, I think I would have too much height in the front.

Did you have any alignment issues at 2.5 setting with stock UCAs? That would be my ideal lift, 2.5 with 2" aal in the rear. That is what I want, just afraid I cant get it aligned right and eat through tires. Seems hit and miss at 2.5 if you can or cant get it aligned right. I dont have $450+ for new UCAs...

Ok... through more research, it seems that it is 2nd gens that have more of the allignment issues at 2.5 rather than 1st gens.

So 2.5 front and 2 rear it is. That way I can tow and haul a little stuff without a really bad bro lean. Should give me a little rake still unloaded as well.

As long as I dont have MORE rake than stock OR bro lean I will be happy.

 Just want to make sure I dont end up with something I am not happy with. Should be good to go now.

All I did was pop off the LCA ball joint and sway, pulled the strut, and swap the shocks. I took it to a mom/pop place got the alignment for 45 bucks. the told me I didnt have to, But better save then sorry.

with a new set of springs im not sure if it would (hold) the 2.5 lift.

you know you can go this route since you already said new coils! http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/3-Lift-Kit-wOME-front-coils-and-rear-lift-options_p_239.html

That way your not fighting between bro lean and rake LIKE I HAVE BEEN lol

I bet when i put my eibach coils on that 2" AAL will be to low. Then im just gonna have to get leaf spring shackles LMAO one thing after another
