Just replaced my driver side front wheel bearing, thanks to so many how to's on tw it was a snap. I never heard a noise, actually brought it in for a mystery clunk (I was told sway bar, it is not, but thats a different story). Within a day of replacement I have a humming with a pitch they gets higher with speed. I hear it from 20mph on up, then oddly enough, all the way down to a stop when decelerating. I've tried 4hi to rule out diff problems and no difference. I honestly can't identify left or right for the hum.

I feel an ever so slight vibe in the steering wheel but nothing under foot. Besides jut going ahead and swapping the passenger side wb, anything else to look at?

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Random thought - could swapping the wheel bearing cause a change in the balance of the tire? I realize tire balance is about equal distribution of mass relative to the rotational axis of the tire, but if the plane of that axis shifts a little (from worn bearing to new bearing), I would think that the relative distribution of mass (wheel weights) would need to be changed, too.

Hmmm. I think I will try the wiggle without the wheel and see if I find any play. Since I replaced it I've jacked it up and checked twice with nothing noticeable from either side. Thanks for the link to bills bearing thread, I haven't seen that one and will probably go complete bearing and hub for the passenger side, by the time I bought the bearing, seal, and o ring, and threw my townie shop some cash for the press fit I spent about the same amount.
