Ha! I've seen them being sold on here before. It's been a while though.

I mean thats where I kept my tow strap because it was as in the army we say "Out of sight out of mind" I feel like if I had it in an open location easily accessible some shithead would take it. I might have to hit up ebay or something.

I did the lock mod on my boxes. They work great and keep the honest man honest. I keep bungees, ropes and ratchet straps in mine.

Yeah I wouldn't leave shit like that out either. I did the lock mod on mine too. I have a tonneau cover now, but I still toss my tie downs in there since they are so easily removed.

Both of mine bounced out, I had to glue them with urethane adhesive. I can't keep the storage compartments at the back closed either. Most of the time, the covers just bounce around the bed. I imagine they'd work ok if I stayed off dirt roads...

I don't keep anything in any of them and I keep the doors for the rear ones inside the cab. I had a few ratchet straps stolen and I got tired of seeing the doors laying in the bed after someone opened them to see what they could steal.

They aren't very deep for good storage. When I was dropping in 2x4's in the bed I had a tight one and used the cubby.
When I camp in the back on a platform I made, those cubbys come right above my bed roll. Good for keys, cell phone, wAllet.
Oh, and some have put their Diff breather in there.

My '13 DCSB doesn't have the two open cubbys at the front of the bed. It does have the closed lid variety near the tailgate.

From the looks of them, I don't think I'll miss them. Besides, it would probably be easy to add if someone just had to have them. I can't see how they would be good for too much though. It would be nice for the extended breather mod, so I will have to work around not having easier access to the back of the gas tank lid area when I do it.

Interesting. Maybe the 2013's that have them, it was like a left over thing. They still had some of those beds left so used them up. I assume the 2014's won't have them.

Yeah I wouldn't miss mine either.
