My other option is Landcruiser or 4Runner time. Probably sell the truck in one piece for a nice price.

    Do this.
Keep looking but that's the one thing I'm gonna do if I ever need to "upgrade", just gonna buy a stock double cab and swap everything over to it and visa versa-- then sell my pretty much "stock" extended cab

Spent a bit of time replacing some of the burnt out bulbs.

    The climate controls:

    Basically just seat and twist:

Did the dome light as well:

Finally got around to mounting the skid plate after painting the engine side:

Painting the lip turned out well:

Mounted up and digging the plain steel:

Think I'll just clear coat it and call it done. Very happy with how the mounting tabs turned out but not happy with the bolts. Need to see about getting the nuts welded to the tabs:

Starting to rethink the color, leaning towards painting it black. Would hide it a good bit and make resealing scrapes easier since They'd be very noticeable.

Anyone got time to photoshop some matte black onto the skid in this picture?

Finally got a bunch of SGT Taco's time and got the stereo install finished. Many thanks to his wife for being so patient.

RAAM Audio Package #1 used with plenty left over.

The back wall with RAAMmat BXT II going up:
    IMG_6241_zps7fffeb7e_3f378fb13652211e5d37fddb3d46d0fcfd42be92.jpg

    IMG_6244_zps2a79fb20_e6324ae2a1a8555d2ba5f1a51fb7a4e06b148336.jpg

    Then a layer of Ensolite:

    IMG_6245_zps636a0c4b_644cc59aff34919c8277d15b67e702e02c239d11.jpg

Ensolite on top of RAAMmat BXT II behind the front speaker:
    IMG_6247_zps1071504a_a073a58e8b4e3ef9051ad4b3ae1e334d2c80c2d7.jpg

Building up the front doors with the BXT II:
    IMG_6248_zpsc3d9b285_0310fedcdbcaae00668369702ca376dae42c0beb.jpg

Base layer on with the sealing tape:
    IMG_6252_zps5d490019_2959443be613470d6f7b34cdb783fb04e1afaee0.jpg

    and finished with the Ensolite:
    IMG_6254_zps06ae0013_f5d9c2928a138461ed56102331dc039e143df69a.jpg

Got everything back together and the Alpine PDX-F4 fired up:
    IMG_6257_zps0e500835_7b4e7634cfa337c40c7d948b10e5c9fe522174bd.jpg

The difference is night and day. The cab is so much quieter and the sound is so much more authoritative with some decent bass response. I was loving the drive home with the tunes cranking.

Many thanks to Madjik_Man for recommending the RAAMaudio products. A worthy upgrade.

And many, many thanks for SGT Taco and his mad install skills.

    Wife rolled it 3x mod...
I've been neglecting my truck so much with this type of mod. I've gotten into a rut of just doing necessary repairs, but I think I'll be doing this to my truck soon...

I was driving home with a big grin on my face. I'll have to take you for a drive so you can see how much better it is. Let me know when you want help.

I don't know what else is out there and if there is cheaper stuff that does as well but the 1st Gen cabs really need some noise suppression. The midrange isn't anywhere near muddy now. The outer skin on the doors have a much lower resonance when tapped and the doors close with a nice thud. I got spooked when rolling up the passenger side window, I didn't hear the window motor at first.

Overall noise floor is way lower and a lot of detail in playback is so much easier to hear.

I'm on the fence between the RAAMat Package (#1) that you got and Dynamat off of Amazon. They both have insanely good reviews when it comes to dampening sound. Did you do under the carpet as well?

Nope. Just the back wall, doors and behind the rear speakers. I used half of the Ensolite and had 5 pieces of the BXT II leftover.

I don't know how it compares to Dynamat. Somewhere around here I have a fuzzy recollection of a thread discussing the two. I'll look for it tonight. Might want to ask Madjik_Man why he chose to use the RAAMAudio stuff. He gave me the recommendation.

yeah. After a few weeks of looking at bare steel, it just doesn't look right. Of course, after bashing it a little last weekend, I was rethinking leaving it plain but really doesn't look right. Being black will let me see the damage easier anyways.

Oh, and have to trim the sound material around the door panel fasteners. The passenger side is popping loose in a couple places.

I put off finishing the paint job on the skidplate until too late. A week after the first major snowstorm of the season:

    IMG_0771_zps52d05aed_3276dac3f2c4c5cc227c85cdb050f804ec3c4333.jpg

Going to be paying for the mistake with lots of elbow grease tomorrow.
