Exterior door handles

Wanted to replace my stock door handles with blacked out handles. I'm not sure on how to remove them, I've seen that a few people have taken off the door panel but I'm not sure if thats what I have to do. Ive searched google and can't find a write up or anything. So any type of help would be awesome!

There is a proper tool to take off the window handle if you dont want to do the strap method. The tool is available at Autozone for about $6

When I bought the truck the previous owner gave me a box of stuff and there is black door handles in it, so thats why I'm not gonna paint them. That wouldve been my second option

 

Easy swap, should take about an hour (or so) on each side

 

I know this is gonna be contrary to popluar opinion, but taping off your door around the handle, taping newspaper everywhere, and spraying black plastidip is a good option.

And its not permanent, since you can peel it off if you think it looks like crap

 

I painted mine with semi gloss rattle can and they still look like I did it yesterday.

This was over a year ago, easily

 

Yea I could try and do that. Just tape everything off and spray like 2-3 coats I'm guessing

 

ditto. prep makes all the difference. and honestly removing the handles is a real pita just to replace. but if you've got the time and patience more power to you!

Ha I've got the time, maybe tomorrow. Just debadged it today waiting on my new 2nd gen emblems and gonna paint em black and slap em on!
