Been looking for an 99-2003 Tacoma 4x4 either extra cab or double cab and am not having much luck.I am in BC Canada if that means anything. The trucks I am finding are the frames are shot or just way overpriced with ultrahigh km's.
Now I am stumbling upon a few of these TRD stepside with 180000km(kilometres for the US crowd) and am blown away by the price difference. Much Cheaper. Is it really just because the box?

Yeah the box os skinny I found the same thing when looking for mine.. ended up bring one up from arizona. Found prices up here to be stupid. My advice stay away from dealera find one private. If its in good shape maybe even worth going to the interior to pick it up. Dont be scared of 180, 000 that's nothing I'm at 200,000 miles and still running strong.

I'm at 370,000 KMs doesn't burn a drop of oil and runs like a champion! 180,000 really isn't that much on a tacoma!

I guess so. When I got mine it was a bit cheaper than a normal bed. You lose a little bit of space but I have managed to make it work just fine. Just gotta be efficient when you pack it. I also get more comments about it being a stepside than anything else I have done to the truck. Its pretty nifty to have such a uncommon model
