Just bought this 2006 TRD 4.0L V6 4x4 (automatic) with 110k miles a few months ago, and I love every minute of driving it. First car was a '95 Silverado, and I went to cars from there. I told myself that the next truck I bought would have 4-wheel drive and so here I am. Here are a few pictures, and a list of things that I would like to fix and also that I think would make a good project.

    1. The lift kit. I like the looks, but the previous owner went with spacers, and I don't like what I hear about those.
    2. Fog lights. Aftermarket or stock, either one would suit me.
    3. Steps or skids. I won't be doing very much off-roading, but if skids are similar in price as just steps then why not right?
    4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgio2waxufQ I know it sounds ridiculous, but I hate that I have this thing in the middle of my hood that serves no purpose. So I want to give it one.
    5. Undercoating. I live in KY so our winters aren't terrible (not a lot of salt) but I hear that rust is the Tacoma's "Achille's heel". Only problem is... I have no idea who does that sort of thing around here.
    6. Probably going to have to replace that tri-fold cover I have on it soon. It's held together by prayer and glue.
    7. Towing kit. I don't haul things often, but I'd like the option. (last time, I had to jury-rig a kit for my buddy so we could tow a U-Haul 400miles... not fun)
This list is by no means finished, nor is it going to happen in the next 5 years. But a man can dream can't he? ;)

Also, couple of questions while I have your attention:

    • Can anyone identify my lift kit? Is it safe?
    • Does anyone know if those "pro comp alloy" wheels or "Bigfoot" tires are any count?
    • Will I need hub spacers or anything else with these wheels?
    • Should I have a dealership give it a checkup? (I bought it from a non-Toyota dealership used.)

Anyways, I know how important it is to learn from people that have been in my shoes before. Which is why I joined this forum. Hope to have a great time riding with y'all.

    Welcome bud

It's a front spacer lift with a rear 1" block, nothing fancy, I ran with a spacer lift for years, the only downfall is no down travel and the ride is terrible, other than that it will be fine.

If you post some specs to the wheels (like offset and backspacing) it would be easier to tell you if you need wheel spacers or not.

As long as the truck is mechanically sound (which 100k miles isn't a lot of miles) you should be good. The first thing I would do is change all the fluids, engine, front & rear diffs, t-case and transmission, I would also change the plugs and clean the MAF. Good luck, nice truck.

I like the idea of the light in the hood scoop. Looks like it works pretty well also.

One thing that fellow member Large didn't mention is to perhaps clean the throttle body valve because At 110k miles it's time. Welcome to Tacoma world.
