How big of compressor are you running?

I've got the JD2 bender also... I've done a bit of work with it over the years all pulling on it by hand. Summer is the best when you have to wear welding gloves to use it cause it's 110+ degrees outside and I'm working in the sun.

Fugly bumper but I built it exactly as the kid wanted!!! I don't always like everything I've built but I try to build exactly what the friend or owner wants, not what I want...

Point being, manual benders work great, you just gotta earn it on occasion! Those 180 degree bends kinda suck! LOL

Now it's making me want to get one, I either have at home or at the shop pretty much all the tools I need for fabrication except a bender. Make as any mistakes as you want, we all do, at least I do...a lot...

Nice. Won't be disappointed. I'm gonna get another die set here soon.

Might want to figure out what you want to do about a stand while you wait.

Wow, yeah, I will hopefully save up the money soon. I have a small MIG welder, but I am curious what you all would recommend as a minimum standard for things such as plate bumper welding, and tubing welding. Mine is on the low-current end, but I will have to post the specs later. I am curious what everyone uses. I have even looked at one welder that is a combo plasma cutter, TIG welder, and stick welder at 200 amps. I know it is a no-name brand and cheap, but since I am not doing mass production, it would be a nice alternative. And with a TIG I can weld aluminum! (with a respirator of course)

Its a multi process machine with an AC/DC TIG? You want AC for welding aluminum. I have 2 millermatic 252's migs in my shop. For plasma hypertherm all the way the power max 30 would be fine for light hand held use.

Yeah, I'm mostly going to be doing light welding. I think the thickest will be the plate bumper at I think 3/16 inch? I may be wrong.

Well then you need at least a 180 to weld a bumper. The millermatic 211 would be a good welder. But welding 3/16th on that welder you will be taking a few brakes with the 30% duty cycle.

My rear bumper was 1/4" wall. Beveling, pre-heating, or a couple passes was more than enough with the hobart 140.

Not to go off topic, but I upgraded from the 140 to the 210MVP. I haven't wired the garage for 240v yet, but it seems like the 210 running 115v has better penetration than the 140. Doesn't make sense though.

The duty cycle seems way better too. Like I can practically weld all day with the 210 cranked all the way up, and has yet to trip the fuse in the basement. The 140 on the other hand tripped the fuse quite frequently when cranked all the way up.

I promise not trying to come off rude, but can you do better than "No I wouldn't" and give me some specific reasons WHY you wouldn't? Some reasons I tell people I wouldn't get something is based on opinion or factors that are not important to them. I need more info.
