Hello guys and gals, so I'm stumped, I got a 97 tacoma 2.7l that I crashed three years ago. Long story short I bent the frame but now I finally got it all together and can't get it to start. Well, actually it did the first time I tried and it sounded like a Harley due to the fact the catalytic convertor was clogged. So, I replaced that and did a full tune up (oil. Filters, battery, spark plugs and wires, even replaced the fuel pressure regulator) And now it won't start at all just cranks and cranks I have fuel but no spark at all out of no where!?!? :-/ Not sure why I lost spark? I replaced everything with the right parts and gapped the plugs correctly. Maybe bad coils all of a sudden or wiring problem?? But the truck started before I just had to hold the gas pedal to keep her running, I believe this was because the cat was clogged. Like I said before I'm stumped... Please somebody help my headache won't go away! ha ha

I can't remember if the 97's had a coil or rotor and cap.

But are you getting fire to the coil or rotor?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I'm going to guess the Igniter [IMG]or ground wire, somewhere.

Thank you all for your input I'm going to go pick up a new ohm meter and go to town! I'll post back after that.

Picked up a new digital multimeter as the coil both have good resistance so I'm leaning towards the bad power fuse or igniter switch ground wires seem to be ok. How can I check the igniter?

Sorry about the caps issue haha. Took another look today and still can't find an issue :-( determined to figure this out don't want to have to take it to a mechanic. Any other ideas guys? truck still just cranks away and won't start.

maybe try puttin a new tank of gas in it if all electronics are checking out. I dont know if water/gas work like oil/water or anything but maybe it was watered down and you burned just enough to push it into the non-ignitable stage.

Im just brainstorming though and that may be a bunch of bologna

when you replaced the spark plug wires, did you make sure the wires from the spark plug matched up on the distributor? may not be the problem but a buddy of mines truck just kept cranking and wouldnt start and it turned out this was his issue.
