I just installed some ride rite suspension bags last week (thanks to this forum for the help) and today I had my truck up on a lift to change all the diff fluids and the bags were stretched out !!!! Now I'm losing about a pound of pressure in around 5-6 hours. It looked like the bags were the only thing holding the axel to the frame it didn't look good at all. Any help or experience would be appreciated. Thanks

I hate to say but I agree with Beavis. I worked for Discount Tire Co. for quite some time and every time we had a vehicle come in with air bags installed factory or otherwise we had to turn off the bags to prevent damage. We didn't catch them all and in the process ended up having to pay to replace more than we should have. Hope that isn't the case but it is definitely a possibility. Goodluck!

    Thanks for the replies.
Haven't had a chance to check all connections and the bags. Will tomorrow.

What is meant by turning them off? Just emptying them of all their air? They only had around 8 psi when it went up on the lift.

Can trucks with ride rites never go up on a lift or do you have to support the axel some how? Sorry for all the ?'s I've only had them on for a week and I'm freakin out a bit. Was happy with the install and how they worked for a week.

8 psi shouldn't tear them. I would be leaning more towards a fitting some where. Maybe a length of hose got a little over extended, or a smalll hole from rubbing on something.

Yeah soapy water spray on them, maybe pump them up a bunch so you might spot a leak easier.

Agreed. I've put the bags on two different trucks and they both experienced leaking a few weeks after install. Both times fittings were found loose, tightened up and all was well.

If I'm not mistaken the instructions direct you to vent the bags completely before lifting.

For future reference, if you install the Daystar Cradles ( here: http://www.daystarweb.com/productdetail.php?productID=1232 ) you don't have to worry about lifting since the bottom of the bag is detached from the axle and riding in the cradle.

You can damage air bags by letting them hang like that. Not saying it did but it could. Make sure to drain them down before lifting. Also check all your fitting as said before. Possibly just a loose connection somewhere.

So what was the finding here? Bags damaged? Leak elsewhere? This thread's not nearly as useful without a verdict.

Double check your connections. Sometimes they can be a little tough to get right. You have to press real hard sometimes. Also remove the valve stems and put back in and refill. Mine sometimes leak from the valve stems.

But yeah per the instructions you need to removed all the air before you lift the truck. I just remove the valve stem before it goes in and i have a portable compressor to refill after.
