Just got back from Tampa was surprised how bad my gas mileage was. 8 to 10.
Kept cruise on 60 whole way.had a 3/4 ton Chevy with 2500 lb truck camper that got better gas mileage. Good news was pulled it with no prob.

It's a v6. Towing mileage won't be that good...you're basically working the engine, where as the weight behind a 3/4 ton would be far less noticeable.

I think the wind resistance is a big factor with the Tacoma. A full size truck is wider so it breaks the wind before it hits the square sides of a 8 ft wide trailer. The Taco is 6 ft wide, so the trailer hangs 10" wider on each side and that has to make a hit on the fuel mileage as well as performance.

The Forest River R-Pod trailer is designed for a mid-size truck, it's narrow like the Tacoma, I bet towing that you get better performance all around, but the sacrifice of space.

As it should, I towed 4000K 1500 miles behind my 3.4L. Wish I had the 4.0L. 6'x12' u haul trailer

My 4.0 towed it with no strain. Gas mileage just sucked.ive owned a lot of rvs but the only one that did this bad was a class. A. Airstream land yacht. With 454 and that. Got 8

No mods it's stock, it drop to less than 2k rpm when it hit cruising speed but would jump up to three going up hills( small hills i95 from nj to fl).also cruise control would cause to rev too high so I'd do myself when incline was coming

We pull a 19ft. toyhauler with 2 quads, water, food etc. weighing in at 6500#. We are getting about 8.3-8.5 mpg. Not good but not too bad.
