Hey TW searched around a bit and since I'm not too familiar with what to get in terms of audio systems would love some help. I am looking to upgrade my system, but not all at once. I dont need anything crazy but heres what I am thinking and would love to open this up for some tips/ideas/suggestions to help out my future system.

    Heres what I am thinking:
    Custom container from Mr. Marv
    Pioneer shallow 10" sub
4 Channel amp (??? Help with this one)

I want to keep the stock unit for now and eventually upgrade to something like an Alpine CDE133 BT deck and after that new speakers. From my understanding I could get a 4 channel amp and hook that up to the front two speakers and the other 2 channels tie to the sub. Any help would be GREAT and recommendations on an amp and speakers. Also, can I do the initial amp and sub with the stock system?! I have a 2009 base v6 taco (non TRD :) ) Thanks in advance!

I am thinking that a 4 channel amp would be good for the front speakers and the sub (and easy to upgrade speakers later if I want to). My main concern is the stock headunit and whether or not I need to replace that. Can't wait to get this done.

Yes, you can keep the stock head unit and add an amplifier. The easiest way is adding an amp with "high level inputs." These types of amps allow you to tie the speaker wire from the stock head unit directly to the amp. Another option is adding a "line out converter." These are units that change the signal from speaker wire to RCA. But if you're planning on adding an aftermarket head unit later on, I'd skip the line out converter since you won't use it with an aftermarket head unit.

So if you're looking for an amp with high level inputs, this Alpine amp should float your boat. And if you want to look at others, here are all of Crutchfield's 4-channel amps with high level inputs.
